Been busy!!

Finally able to jump back into some scrapping! I don't realize how much I miss it until it's been a month since I've been in my room! *shock!*

I've been playing with the beautiful January My Scrapbook Nook kit....
here are a few things I've done!

First up is a layout about my oldest daughter and this past year she spent doing competitive cheer!

Yes I'm alive and kicking!!
To say it's been crazy around here would be an understatement! LOL
Catchup...
Madison went to State with the marching band... they were the smallest 2A band there and the 2nd smallest band in the 1A division (we are 2A)... anywho we are proud to say we took 13th place in the state of Texas!! Not too shabby for our first trip to the State competition!! :)

Our little football team that could made it all the way the the Quarterfinals in the State playoffs so of course we were traveling to those games and well as Madison cheering and marching...

Soon after that I lost internet connection for a good 2 &(&*%^*^*&( weeks... got that back up and running just in time to land my ass in the hospital! :( I was there for a week... and it sucked!!! I was out thankfully just in time for the holidays home with the family... and once I've got through those I'm finally out and kickin'!! :)

Hows that for a quick summary!?
Now for some fun stuff... I'll be back soon with some creations... I've been trying to get busy and find my mojo again and what better way to do it than with a CROP!?
My Scrapbook Nook has really kicked into gear this year and we have a 5 week crop going on and would love for everyone to come over and check it out and play along!! LOTS of amazing prizes and tons of inspiration!! :)

So Ready for the Weekend!

This has been one of those blah weeks... the weather has been up and down. From shorts early in the week to bundle up tight clothes today! We are winding down football season here and getting ready to start basketball season!
Our Varsity team will be moving to the playoffs in a couple weeks and of course we will travel to go and watch all that goodness... plus Madison will move to Varsity cheer for playoffs and will continue to march with the band at half time...

speaking of band...
Last week we competed in UIL Area Band contest to see who would go to state. The made the Area finals (24 bands... top 10 went to finals)... those top 10 bands again played their show and the top 4 from that would advance to state. We placed SECOND in finals and will advance to STATE this coming week! So we travel to San Antonio Sunday to support Madison and the Maverick band in the competition... we are the little band that could I swear... at a whopping 44 members big we are one of the smaller 2A bands.. but we are GOOD!!! Good luck Thundering Herd!!

Nook Projects!

It's been another crazy week here at the Moreno household! :)
Monday- I work... Matt soccer practice, Mitchell cross country, Madison band practice
Tuesday- Vball games, Madison sectionals
Wednesday- Madison bball practice, Mitchell cross country meet (usually church nite)
Thursday- Mitchell travel out of town, Madison cheer for 2 games in town
Friday- Pep Rally, Madison travels with band for out of town game with band.
Tomorrow- Madison UIL band competition.... TIME OFF!!!
Sunday- church and Madison competition cheer for 3 hours...

eeek!!! That is exactly why this blog does not get updated as often as I would like! and that's not too bad of a week really.... next week baseketball starts and all five kids are playing and competition cheer season starts and then the boys will be in playoffs and Madison cheers there too... good stuff!

SO if I'm not here updating my blog... know that I am at least thinking about updating it... almost the same thing, right? ;)

Here are a few Scrapbook Nook projects I've been working on... I have a few more I will share soon...

First is a fun layout... A local photographer- Traci Hernandez- wanted some "trash the dress" photos and asked Madison if she was interested, which of course she jumped right on! She had a blast and took loads of pictures... these in the layout are just a few on the layout... (Everything from the October Scrapbook Nook kit!)

Thought I'd jump in real quick and share some projects I've done lately... :)

First up are a few that I have done for PSA Essentials...

First up is my oldest son Morgan... this is him running track last year... he was the only freshman that was brought up to run Varsity track this year... he runs long distance... for sure something he gets from his dad because I was always a sprinter! LOl

Next is just a sweet layout about Makenna and her little friend Kendall... this was from last summer when the older three went on their mission trip and the twins each brought a friend and we went bowling. I tell ya I would rather take a group of teens than this age... they are SO funny and the girls and boys are always trying to outdo themselves and totally be "cool" around each other... they kept me on my toes for sure!

Then here are some CPS cards I always seem to forget to upload! LOL

Nook projects!!

Well I ordered the September kit from Scrapbook Nook even though I wasn't due to start till the beginning of October and what a stinkin' cute kit it was!!!
Here are a few things I created with it:

This weekend is the big (I use that term very lightly... big.. ha!) Ripfest Parade and such so I've been busy painting signs for the cheer float and such... always something! So tomorrow I get there early to blow up balloons and get the float set up and decorated... hurry to find a spot in front of the courthouse where they will stop and cheer and then tear it down and get ready to head over for Madison's first band competition in Breckenridge! Sunday is filled with church, Madisons cheer, Morgans baseball games and Madison has powder puff practice (<------ that should be interesting)! LOL

Wahooo!!!

Well Homecoming is FINALLY over... I think I made around 45 mums this year (and had to turn down orders towards the end)... I really was expecting maybe 25 or so when I put the word out so I was a bit overwhelmed.... will try to not let that happen next year for sure... try and be more prepared!! LOL

Here are a couple shots of the kids at Homecoming... sorry I'm too lazy to work the PS magic and stuff with them... hehe...

Here's one of the twins... who are looking quite rough... this was at the end of the game (notice Matthew's red painted hair? lol)... both of them had "dates" this year... and I use that term loosely... more like a "hey I think your cute so um... wanna go to homecoming as friends and exchange mums?"... they are in 4th grade... eeek!

Then here's Mitchell and his girlfriend of almost a year, Halle. I made both of their mums this year... that was fun to do! (Can't see his garter on his arm... look down at Grandles to get an idea of how is was)

Then there's these two... My daughter Madison and her boyfriend of almost 2 years now... this was after the Homecoming game! Madison was so excited because JV cheer got to cheer for Homecoming night, she had a blast!! :)

And then this one... probably my favorite picture of the night... Madison and her 3 best friends... these are just the best set of girls ever! Love them!! :)

Are you wondering where Morgan is in all this? Yeah well he's almost 16 now and would rather be strung up by his toenails then wear a mum or let me take a picture of him at homecoming! lol

Now for a few crafty things... here are some recent cards for CPS!

I'm hoping this weekend to actually be able to sit down and CRAFT!!! *shocker*... I have all the mum crap cleared away and picked up and now I"m ready to get back to the paper and glue!!

Some fun news... I was invited to join the My Scrapbook Nook design team!!! These kits look AWESOME and I'm waiting for my Sept. kit I ordered so I can get started playing over there.... hope ya'll join me and check it out!!

Mum World...

Yeah that's currently where I am living right now...

Here in the Great State of Texas ;) we do Homecoming up right!!

How do we do it up right you ask?

I made a handfull last year and decided this year I would actually put myself out there and make them this year... so I started taking orders and I've done pretty well so far! I'm hoping for a good handful of last minute orders to come pouring in! :)

so if you don't see me for a bit... yeah it's cause I'm covered in ribbon, trinkets, and bells!

Homecoming is Sept 9th.... I'll try to uncover myself to check in before then though! ;)

I was asked to be a guest designer over at Creative Charms this month... here are a few projects I whipped up using their super fun embellishments! :)

First up is a layout about my oldest daughter and her accomplishments in band this year... she seriously rocks at drums...She was first chair all year, made region band with a broken elbow (remember she is a percussionist), was section leader and then won the top honor given to a band student (just one given out).... I'd say she had a pretty kick butt year! :) so i just wanted to do a quick page to document that!

Then here is another quick card that uses that cute little crocheted embellishment as the focal point!

See that little cheerleader... and the ring down by the date... and my proudest moment... see the banner... yeah baby that was a fraternity (or maybe a sorority??) stamps for DeltaDeltaDelta (three triangles) that I stamped over and over again and cut out carefully and strung together... LOVE!

ooooh boy!

This has been a CRAZY couple weeks I tell ya! (why do I always feel like this is how I start my blog posts? ha!)

Week before last we headed to Athens for Morgans state baseball tournament and stayed the week in a hotel and sweated and played baseball (well not we... just Morgan ;) ) It was a great tournament for the boys but games were close and um... interesting (lets just say I may or may not have lost my voice from all the yelling... ahem) calls and decisions at the games and the boys didn't go as far as we had hoped they would but went down fighting for sure! This is Morgans last year to play pony league... hopefully next year they will put together a high school eligible team so he can play in the summer again... he loves baseball for sure! He had an amazing season!!

After Athens we headed to San Antonio for my Grandads funeral... he was such an amazing, loving man and he will be missed greatly! :(

We then headed to my moms house and spend the weekend playing games and just hanging out with the family... it was nice to have my sister there and her kids... .all of them don't get a whole lot of time to hang out so when they do it's lots of fun!

Now we are finally at home and starting the process of getting ready for school to start!

Madison is at band camp for two weeks and is there all stinking day... sigh... good news though is that she found out she got a marching snare position... a spot that is usually reserved for upperclassman (she will be a freshman).... she kicks total ass on the snare drum... so proud of her!

This has been a very relaxing week so far.... and it's been wonderful! Other than the fact that I miss the big three terribly! We have built tents, went to see Kung Fu Panda2 and hit up CiCi's Pizza.... good times! The older ones come back on Saturday, even if this relaxing is nice... I miss them and want them home! :)

I had a GREAT time in California visiting my best friend Chris... even though it's been years since we have seen each other it all just falls into place... I love that girl and she has been my best friend for over 16 years now. We tease that there is no getting rid of each other now... we know too much about each other! ;) I also got to watch my neice (her daughter) graduate high school... what a tear jerker that was, just yesterday i swear I had her in my preschool class! Also got to see Hannah's promotion, hard to beleive her and Madison will be Freshman next year... sigh!

Noel Challenge...

It's been a busy busy busy time since school has let out...
Finished up VBS... check! (and oh was it fun!!!)
Got Madison packed up and sent off to cheer camp this morning... check!
Need to pack myself cause I leave in the morning for Cali to see my best friends daughter (my niece) graduate
Need to pack up the big three for their mission trip that they leave for next week...

after that it should slow down for a bit and we can just do some relaxing! :)

I'm in the middle of my VBS week at my church!

Commander KIM reporting for duty!! hehe (we have a Galactic Theme this year and I'm the official director)... I was nervous at first but not I have to say I"m totally loving it!!! There is something that is addicting about being up on stage dancing and acting a fool and looking out and seeing all those kids singing, dancing and just getting it! love it!

Sisters...

After church last week for Easter I took the kids out and took some AWESOME pictures of them... I got this shot of my two daughters... I seriously can't stop staring at this picture!

They look so much alike but then looking closer there are so many differences too. (I'm talking appearances... personalities WAY different! lol)

These two love each other completely but drive each other the most nuts. They have had to share a room forever (and always will... much to Madisons complaining)... some days they are the best of friends and other days they can pass each other in the hall and without a word said and just go at it... ("she gave me a dirty look mom!!")... I hope they grow up to be close friends and each others companions. I love them both with all of my heart.

I did this layout combining the Noel Mignon Jump and Jive and Delightfully Domestic kit...

I went a little out of my box and dug out my Heidi Swapp masks and tried the bagillion mists I have (but hardly ever use) for this layout... I love the soft look the butterflies give the layout!
note to self: must try more...

Easter/ Birthday/ Confirmation/ and scrap!

So many things I wanna share today!! Grab a snack and read on... (or just skip down to the craftiness ;)

On Easter Sunday my oldest three were confirmed at our church... First United Methodist... such a proud day and I shed some tears but mostly just so proud. I love how they are involved in the church and were excited to become members!

(Seth, Madison, Mitchell, Samuel, and Morgan)

The day was spent taking pictures of the kids... I would use the word photoshoot... but I don't want to give the wrong impression that I actually know what I'm doing... hahaha... so I um.. took some great pictures of some great kids! ;)

You'll be seeing tons of them on upcoming layouts... here is a group shot of the short ones...

then....I'm a bit late in posting this.... but May 1st was Makenna and Matthews NINTH birthday..

sigh..

It just doesn't even seem possible that these two sweet babies are nine years old.. they will be going into the fourth grade next year and it all just seems to be happening way too fast!

Just wanted to jump on and share a layout I did with the Noel Mignon Jump and Jive kit... I just love how versatile this kit is! seriously! I have done a Mothers Day layout, an everyday layout (below) and a layout about Tombstone Arizona... woop! Gotta love that and I still have tons of kit left and have so many more ideas still! :)

This is a layout of my oldest daughter... this is Madisons nightly ritual.. each night her or her bf (of well over a year now) call each other on the phone and she goes and finds a place to curl up and talk and share the day... i love that in the convenience of texting they are choosing to catch up on their days on the phone!

I'm excited that my mom and stepdad as well as my husband are all coming in tonight for a weekend visit! yeah!! Should be a fun filled weekend... I'm really looking forward to it! Also baseball opening season is this weekend so the little break I said we had... yeah over! ha! alright this was just a drive by sharing... A Small Break...

With baseball season just ending for my oldest and then summer baseball not in full swing for the boys we are in a bit of a lull... and it's glorious!
It won't really last long, only for about a week.... but it's nice to just come home and chill... actually make dinner and sit around the table! I really miss those days... when then kids were smaller and we didn't run so much we sat around the table each and every night and had dinner together and shared about our day. With so much go go go around here we may get that twice a week now... i wasn't sure really if the kids got too much out of it until we didn't do it... now they ask "are we at home tonight? can we do dinner on the porch?"...

Have to give a shout out to my little softballer (kenna!)... last year was her first year to play softball and she rarely hit the ball when up to bat (coach pitch) and just did ok in the outfield....
this year...
she has hit every single time but once up at bat and last week caught a pop fly and threw it to first for a double play!! I was up out of the stands like an idiot so excited!! :)

I haven't shared any craftyness lately cause I had wanted to leave my Core entry up top... but with the announcement sometime this week (fingers still crossed... eeek!) I thought it was time to start sharing work again ;)

Here's a new layout I just finished today (I actually finished TWO *gasp!* but I''m only sharing one.. gotta space them out ya know!)... this one is all from the Noel Mignon Jump and Jive kit (still 6 left!!)

This layouts about the tradition the kids have making me breakfast in bed each year... they go all out and I get really spoiled.. Jay has started this with them from the time they were tiny... and they are very serious about it and don't like to miss it! This particular year Jay had to be out of town and he made sure to make breakfast the night before and cut up all the fruit etc so all the kids had to do was take it out of the fridge and heat it up and present it! I LOVE that my kids do this for me each year...
I worked on this layout and just fell in love with it and then once I got done I realized... damn! I forgot to journal (I do this often.. hehe) and so I printed out a large tag and slipped it behind my large photo mat (see the little punched border sticking out the top?)

and then here it is sticking out...

and of course a little close up..

My Core'dinations Creative Frenzy!

I have enjoyed being on the Core'dinations team for several years now... since the beginning...and I have loved every part of it. Core'dinations is a top notch company to work for and I've been proud to do so for as long as I have! I am hoping to knock their socks off with my entry and continue on the team for another term!

First up is my favorite layout of my entry... :) (well my favorite using black paper, the other is my favorite using brown paper.. hehe). anywho..

I wanted to do a page about Madison getting her braces off and just really how much she has bloomed! She is a beautiful girl inside and out!
I crimped, crumpled, and dry embossed then sanded the leaves for my big flower. I then used a paper strip and randomly folded it into a circle and sanded the top to create the center of the flower. I tore strips of the green paper and added hints of a punched yellow border. I also used my Scor-Pal tool to create the "frame" around my layout and to reveal the red core to the paper, I love how these simple lines really add to my layout!

Next up is my layout that's a little softer than the first one but I'm still just so in love with! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colors on the new Core Impressions papers and used lots of them here! They are so easy to sand and use without even reaching for patterned paper!

I randomly sanded the background paper to reveal the red core. I then cut out the designs on the paper and sanded them and then used them as embellishments around my layout. I sanded and tore the edge of the whitewash/pink cardstock. I also sanded and cut the "vines" from the Core Impressions cardstock as well. For the title I handwrote it and then cut it from the cardstock.

Are you shocked yet you can do so much with JUST cardstock? Gotta love that about Core'dinations! :)

and now for the last part of my entry is a card...
I tore the edges of the leaves and folded them so they would look leaf like and sanded the front. I then punched several flowers and sanded them slightly, the front ones I used my crimper to add extra dimension. I used my Scor-Pal tool to create a border around the edge of my card.

LOL... I don't do them often so when I do I feel the need to scream from the rooftops!!!

I used the NEW Noel Mignon Jump and Jive kit for this one... there were so many pictures from our day trip to Tombstone (when we lived in Arizona) and I wanted to include so many... and I also try to include each of the kids when doing a family type layout... so... a 2 pager it is!!

Momma Braggin' Time!

Well we have had a few busy weeks (I know... you act so surprised! ha!)...anywho...

We have been finishing up track season around here and I just wanted to take a sec to brag on the kiddos a bit, so bear with me... then I promise to show some craftiness! :)

Morgan (my freshman) has been running JV track all season and kicking some bootay and usually medaling each meet (1st, 2nd, or 3rd).. in the 3200m and the mile... well last week they moved him up to the VARSITY to run... he was telling me "Mom I am SO gonna get killed up there!"... I just said as long as you are doing your best and beating your time you can't really do too much better! Well he placed 7th last week in the 2mile and 8th in the mile but had a personal best time... so this week was his 'take a break week'... and he ran the 800 on VARSITY and placed FIFTH!!! This my friends means he letters as a freshman in track!! I'm so stinkin' excited for him!! He will also letter in baseball this year as well... and had he went to playoffs with the basketball team like he was asked he would have got a regional patch as well.. but oh well! (he decided to go play baseball instead of sit the bench in playoffs... a decision he regrets... lol)

Mitchell who is in 7th grade and looooooves track (really? I didn't know anyone really did that.. hehe) ... in the district meet he took 3rd in the 2400m and the mile both... AND beat his personal best by 25 seconds in the 1.5 mile and again in the mile... he has had a very successful season and I really look forward to watching him grow in track!
Madison had a bit of a rough season coming off her broken elbow and being out of athletics for 6-8 weeks and not in the shape she wanted to be for track... but overall did really well!!

Ok... we are in baseball season now and I only have 3 out of the 5 playing now but Morgan is playing both high school and pony league ball so we will be busy as hell once again all summer! lol

now onto craftyness! :)

Just thought I'd pop in to share a layout that I forgot to post using the Noel Mignon "Truly Scrumptious" kit... (sold out).

This little cutie is a friend of ours youngest son... he is a MASSIVE crush on my Makenna.. his "Menna"... he calls for her, he looks for her, and talks about her all the time. For Valentines day he brought her a card and a little stuffed animal and gave it to her after one of the girls basketball games. How cute is he? hehe!

Insert Witty Title Here

I the only one that struggles what to write for the title?
I usually know what I want to write and show off for each post but the title stumps me everytime... oh well.. it is what it is... hahaha

Well this is Spring Break around these here parts... and we have been filled with baseball and more baseball! We finally took off yesterday and headed to Six Flags with our new season passes... it was pretty crowded but we managed to have a blast!! I took all five kids plus my oldest sons girlfriend... thank goodness they are all good kids or I'd be a crazy woman... (wait, don't comment on that... )
I have loved not having to get up at the crack of dawn to get the kids to school for workouts etc...It's been nice!!

Another exciting thing that happened this week.... Madison FINALLY got her braces off! she has had some sort of metal in her mouth since the 4th grade (spacer, mara, braces just on the front etc...) so she was OVER ready!! Here she is all smiley with her beautiful self!! (Iphone photo)

I'm gonna need to lock this girl up I swear... look at that pretty thing!!! Sigh... the receptionist at the ortho dr was trying to hook her up with her son... haha she just smiled and said "Thanks, but I have a boyfriend"... LOL

We were challenged to use a tool in a card set.... on the first card I used it to shape a heart on the card and backed it with paper so the color shows through... a really very simple card and easy to recreate!

this one I let the color come through more subtle to accent the rest of the card. I love the little pops of red!

And last but not least.. here is my Color Combos Galore card for last week... I love the colors and the challenge was to use butterflies! :)

New Noel Kit!

I just got my new Noel Delightfully Domestic kit (sold out already!) in and couldn't wait to play!!! This kit has beautiful colors and FUN embellishments.... I did a quick 2 layouts and wanted to share one today!! This one went up over on the Noel Mignon Layouts/Inspiration Blog today...

Kenna is always wanting to have "classes"... will send out invitations and get supplies ready etc... so we attend and we make. Brandy and Jason were down this summer and got the privelage of attending of of these classes... this one being an Art Class!! Everyone moans and groans about doing it but once they get there (I say get there... meaning walking into the room and sitting down... hahaha) and gets busy has a great time gettin all crafty!!

Well we are on Spring Break around here.... and I use that term loosly! grrr....

Morgan had practice today, Madison appt tomorrow and Morgan a game... Wednesday we are doing Six Flags .. Thursday track practice (older three) and baseball practice for Morgan.... Friday game for Morgan and supposed to be track meet that weekend... sigh... seriously?

The upside... we get to hang around all day... do nothing when at home... and sleeping late!!

Almost the Weekend!!

Yes... I'm hoping for a slightly slower weekend!! I'm pretty sure Morgan will have a game on Saturday and then Madison has cheer on Sunday...but compared to the last several weekends this is shaping up to be a slower one for sure!

of course I'm probably forgetting something....

I just love this picture of Madison and her friends.... a friend of Madison's got all his friends together for a big photoshoot and the result was TONS of fabulous pictures of her and her friends... we plan to get them all together again their Senior year and take similiar pictures... will be fun to compare!! For the past two years Madison and her best friend Alexis have had a Christmas party... this year we had around 30 kids that came, so much fun! We did a scavenger hunt last year just in the yard, but this year we decided to take it around town! Seriously, it was SO MUCH fun...there were 7 locations (yes I forgot to put one of the pictures on the layout... I had it printed and everything and went to journal and thought crap! I forgot that last picture... haha oh well)... I used the Christmas Chestnut Soup Collection:

Catching up...

Hi all!!
The craziness has subsided here around the Moreno house... for now.

We made it through try outs... Madi and the rest of the freshman that tried out all made the JV team... she is super excited about cheer for next year! She also made the Platinum Cheer team at Seals!!! (competition cheer, not associated with school)
Here is her and Alexis excited after looking at the lists! We have pictures of them from making it for 7th, 8th, and now freshman... such sweet girls!

Then we have been in All Star world here with both Makenna and Matthew making the All Star teams... we have been playing basketball for 2 weeks straight with practices and tournaments for both of them, so it's been busy! So proud of the two of them, but so glad it's over too!! :) here they are with their teams.... Matthews team picture cracks me up.. they were all upset cause they took 2nd instead of 1st in the tournament! next year boys!!

We had our first track meets this week.... Morgan took 2nd in the 800m and 3rd in the mile... took 10 and 20 seconds off his last years times!! yeah baby!!
Mitchell did well too getting 3rd in the 800m and 5th in the mile. Madi for not being back in shape (not being in athletics since Christmas because of her elbow) had a good showing too in the 800m and Mile!!

You should see us running back and forth across the center of the track as a family cheering them each on when they go! Morgans friend said "Man your mom beasts it up cheering for you running dude!"... ahahahahah!!!

has truly kicked our butt around here lately!!

Yeah I said I was going to be back Monday to post projects... and well.. that Sunday I came down with a full on ass kicking case of the flu! :( (before that Matthew had the stomach bug)... and then during my flu Makenna comes down with stomach bug.. then the tail end of my flu Morgan gets it full fledged! grrrr... SO... yeah.. we have totally been out of commission for weeks!
But... I got busy Sunday and created my little butt off and finally got caught up on lots of stuff and projects!

First I wanted to invite you all to the Valentines Crop we have going on over at Noel Mignon... come by and check us out for LOTS of inspiring projects and ideas... and PRIZES too! (who doesn't love some free goodies?)

I put up a project today making Valentine Bag Toppers... remember the one I did for Jillibean Soup?

Well I took the same concept and used it to make Valentine toppers using the new Truly Scrumptious Kit from Noel Mignon! This is such a quick and easy project... I can see using it for all the holidays!! :)

Also now that I am up and running I have had the chance to play with the new Truly Scrumptious kit.. and oh my I am so in love.. I knocked out three layouts and a card on Sunday!
Here are a few...
First one I did a layout of Madison and her boy Grandle... they have been going out a year now (I just adore them as a couple, I really do... even if I would really like her to just be playing with dolls still!) and I wanted to make a special page to document the day for her. :)

Here is my take on the sketch!
This is my middle son with his girl... she brought presents over for him for his bday... are they not just precious!? :)

both layouts used the Truly Scrumptios Noel Mignon kit... even though it's a valentines sort of themed kit... its so versatile!! Neither of these layouts are Valentines themed but the kit still totally works!!

ok so speaking of Murphys Law... Madison has high school tryouts in less than 3 weeks... we are all a bit freaking out nervous around here... no worries i'm not gonna go all postal like that other Texas mom years ago... haha!!

During Christmas time she broke her elbow FINALLY getting her backhandspring and is STILL not able to straighten her arm out completely... we are doing physical therapy and such and so we are just hoping she can get it out before tryouts, but we are nervous!

Up this week too are the end of the basketball season Little Dribblers tournaments... so we will be going ninety to nothing with tons of games this week for both the twins.. combined with Morgan's 2 high school games of course :)

I laugh at you Comfort Zone!!

Ha! Ha! Ha!

Yep... that's me!
I have a confession to make... I have NEVER played with the every so popular Mist that I see all over the place on layouts.
well my Noel Mignon Very Virginia kit came and I found myself staring at the Maya Road Mist and masking tape (and the rest of the kit too.. hehe.. this is the stuff that stumped me though)... and I thought
"I know I'm supposed to come up with something super creative with this stuff... but what?"

Well I'm not sure how super creative it is... but I made a border with the masking tape and misted the whole darn page and then pulled my tape up... love the frame it left! This layout pushed me out of my comfort zone in many ways though... see the stamps? Yeah I didn't really overthink them and just stamped away without a real plan (SO not my style) and stamped down under my title a bit and then again on and around the chipboard heart. .... I have to say I really LOVE the results... not my usual style I agree... but it's ok to step out of the zone and just create sometimes!

I have this baby on it's way to me and I can't wait to play!! I admit the colors and style is a bit out of my comfort zone... BUT what's funny is usually that is when I turn out my most favorite layout and projects! (Now lets hope this is true for me and I like what I can do... hehe)

Along with this kit Virginia Tillery is going to do a class with all kinds of techniques (which I am a bit challenged in that department).... this kit has masking tape and mist... WHAT? my brain instantly says... but I really look forward to stepping out of my little box and gettin' misty and trying new things!!

Hi all!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!! We sure did here... it's been busy but we have enjoyed the time off for sure!

This photo... cracks me up! Morgan I practically had to pull from the car to come get a picture taken with Santa but he has learned if he will just give me a quick smile he can get the heck out of dodge! hehe..

I think our favorite gift this year was the one Santa brought the family... a ping pong table!! We have had all out wars out on the screened in porch playing ping pong... definately a wise investment!! :)

Onto some craftyness...
Over at the Noel Mignon Challenge blog we were challenged to scrap decorations outside the house! I chose to use these pictures from one of our Christmas Markets trips when we were stationed in Germany!

Under the Red Shirts...and band!

Last year I had asked the kids to go and grab a red shirt so I could take a few Christmas shots so I could send out a Christmas card.... (keep in mind... it was a great thought... but it never got sent.. I tend to suck like that... ha!)

Anywho... While I was taking the picture I looked down and decided to snap this shot too... I'm so glad I did! I love that I caught this snapshot of "them".... Mitchell all put together with jeans and tennis shoes. Madison with her sofee shorts, long socks and her crocs. Matthew with jeans and his shoes slipped on and untied. Morgan in his baggy basketball shorts, calf socks and untied shoes. makenna with her jeans and 'thrown on found them on the way out the door' flip flops.

This one shot really tells so much about their personalites at that moment... love that!

This weekend was a FILLED one for sure!

Madison (with broken elbow) made 5th chair in region band and Mitchell made 7th chair!! ONE PROUD MOMMA here!! :) Madi is holding the flowers that I brought her and the ones that Grandle brought her as well... and we had a little balloon thing made up for Mitchell...

Jillibean Soup!!

First up is an update on my Madi.... we went to the ortho dr. and he is putting her in a cast for 3 weeks and we will go back in 10 days to see how things are healing... praying for a quick recovery!! He said "don't rule out gymnastics" (for tryouts in 10 weeks)... but I'm not sure I want her back on it by then... we will play it by ear!
Today is Region Band tryouts for both Madison and Mitchell... fingers crossed for the both of them!! Madison has been working with her cast trying to drum.. she is able to do it but it leaves her a bit sore after. She is determined to give it a go today... I"m anxious to hear how they do! IF they make it, tomorrow is an all day affair learning the music at the clinic and then performing a concert tomorrow nite as well.

This is a busy, busy, busy weekend!! Sigh... Morgan is in a tourney that started yesterday (they won their first game!! WOOT!)... today another game along with Madison and Mitchell tryouts... tomorrow I have to get Jay to the airport, Morgan another game and Madi and Mitch concert (keep it in mind these are all in way different towns! haha.. ).. Sunday is filled with church stuff and then the middle school band concert again for Madi and Mitch.... fun filled weekend for sure!! :)

Now for craftyness...
Today over on the Jillibean Soup Blog I did a tutorial for Quick and Easy Treat Bag Toppers.... check out the full tutorial on how to do these easy projects... these would be great for the kids to put together and give to classmates or their friends... and it's simple enough they can do it on their own!

My sweet Madison is at it again... she was at gymnastics tonight working on her backhandspring (cheer tryouts are coming up and she wanted to get it before tryouts... uugh)... anywho.. she finally got the nerve to do it on her own.. did a few of them and then on the third one.. came down wrong... hours later in the ER... she broke her elbow! :( We go see the ortho surgeon in Brownwood tomorrow and should know more then... good gracious the hits keep coming!.. that means she is out of basketball for the rest of the seaon and then not sure how Region Band tryouts will go or even if she can this Friday (she made 2nd chair last year... percussion)... so.. guess I'll find out more tomorrow... neverending I swear around here!! Hey all!
Well I am FINALLY (mostly, sorta) moved into the new place!! It is smaller than where we were but it's MINE!! I will post pictures soon... :)

I mentioned that I have started back up with Noel Mignon and my first month was this one... and I got to use the amazing FULL Bedford Falls kit! This bad boy was jammed full of goodness... I think there may still be more in the store so hop on over and grab one!!
Here is my layout I did for the Challenge Blog... our challenge was to scrap "A Gift from the Past"... I chose to pull out some of these older pictures of my baby Matthew. For this Chistmas Matthew's favorite movie was "Spirit" and so he was all into horses this year... it was so much fun to see him open up all the gifts that year with such joy on his face for each one!

I have been so busy I haven't been able to really play over at Color Combos Galore Blog... but now that I have some days at home I can! So excited to get back into the swing of things... check out this YUMMY color combo... I love the deep rich colors!! join us this week and play along!!

THEN the twins will have practice probably 2 nights a week squeezed in there, games on Sat. and church Sunday....

Hey all!

Just got home from my sons first basketball game... they played SO well!! (and won!)... Madison had her first game out of town and I had to miss it because I still have not figured out how to split myself in two and be in two places at the same time... damn it :(
I did get a lovely text from my friend with a picture of Madi who is now sporting a fresh new black eye, apparantly given on a layup during the game... this should be sweet colors in the next several days! lol

Then I have some fun news to share... I was asked to return to the awesome Noel Mignon design team!! So excited to get started this month.... THIS is what I get to play with.... check out this beauty! :)

Jillibean Soup Goodness...

Yes I know... it's been forever AGAIN since I've blogged! With cheer/footbal season finally over I am hoping that I can try and get back on some sort of regular schedule with blogging and hell just scrapping in general! I have felt so overwhelmed and off my game it's crazy!

But then again now it's basketball season and I will have ALL FIVE kids playing this year... joy... so I will be running in all different directions but at least I will have my days to catch up on work and such since there isn't pep rally preperations to work on! yeah!!

Up first is my layout I did from this years homecoming pep rally! I attempted to make a "mum" using the Jillibean ribbon, corrugated shapes, and journaling spots! whatcha think?

Next up I took this photo over the summer of Matthew and his best friend Jesse and I knew when I saw this Monster Stew collection from Jillibean Soup that I was going to do a page on these two monsters! His mom and I tease that we will have to work in shifts when they get older to keep them in line!

Oh how I love the happy colors in this collection, it goes with everything I want to scrap! fun stuff for sure!

Here are a couple projects I did using this new collection...

I used just the red piece from the collection for this one and sanded just the words that went along with the page I was doing here... Madison wanted a shirt to wear to Grandles game (when they are out of town they don't cheer, only in town games)... I think it's a pretty stinkin' cute shirt and she wears it proudly too! lol

Awhile back the Core'dinations team was sent some fun My Stamp Box stamps to work with and I had a blast using them for this fun layout! I knew when I saw the little stamps with the outlined boxes that I wanted to do a grid type layout using them, I used this fun picture of Madison at her birthday party and the cute little sayings just seemed to work for it!

Yeah I know I slacked again.... on the flip side I have been on my sh*t around the house! hehehe... laundry, cooking dinner at night, getting the kids to school etc.... I guess somethings gotta give! LOL

Here is a shot of the kiddos their first day of school! Morgan is a freshman (sigh) now and loving the freedoms he is getting in high school with the off campus lunches etc... Madison is thrilled to be an 8th grader and the "top of the school", Mitchell is pleased as punch he isn't a lowly sixth grader and has some seniority over the new 6th graders being a 7th grader now. The twins Matthew and Makenna are loving getting to see their friends every day and have a set of great teachers! So all in all as the first week of school comes to an end it looks to be shaping up to be a great year!!

oh.. on a side note... have I ever mentioned I am NOT a morning person? yeah... well i'm not... at.all.
and my sweet dear Mitchell has decided he wants to be on the cross country team... which sounds wonderful and exciting for him until he gets to the point he tells me
"oh and mom we have to be there at 6am"...
WHAT?? (Keep in mind we live several miles out of town in the sticks, so it's not around the corner)
-this was the first morning and when I crawl my butt out and get in the car to drive him in he says this "Mom I really appreciate you doing this for me, thank you"...... all is ok then. I was happy to do it for him and he is now officially on the cross country team! lol....

I punched the squares from the cardstock and then used pop dots to bring it up off the base of my card and I slipped the buttons and patterned paper behind it to give it a windows look like the inpiration piece above.

Tomorrow is Morgans first scrimmage and we plan to make a day of it... so excited for football season to start even though it means total insanity around here for me with all the running! Morgan in high school football, Mitchell middle school football, Madison middle school cheer, and Matthew in peewee football and then not sure what Kenna will get into... on top of this gymnastics an hour away once a week...

and I wonder why I visit my hairdresser as often as I do?

Momma's Brag Post!

Alright I'll share a few creations at the end but this one is all about the kids! :)

First up... see this big boy right here? Geez... where does the time go... we went to his FRESHMAN orientation last night... am I reeeeeally old enough to have a Freshman in high school? good gracious it doesn't seem like it! :(

This was Morgan posin' it up for a picture I needed of him for the page we put in this years Football Program.... he's all serious, wouldn't smile for anything... I think he's still mighty handsome too! :)

We spent the last week going through the State Tourney... they didn't do as well as we all wanted them too and lost a couple tough games but I'm still proud as punch of him! He got on base everytime up to bat and did an outstanding job in the outfield this year, I really look forward to watching him play high school baseball next year!

Now for this little lady! She has been all about cheer lately and getting ready for camp. Camp was the last week of July and she was fully prepared each day. The girls learned new dances and came home with several new cheers and chants! She is super stoked this year being captain (see those cute little stars on her uniform...oh yeah baby.. that's for captain!).. I warned ya this was a proud momma post so I'm aloud to brag a bit ;)

Well at camp the girls have the opportunity to try out for "All American"... and I am so stinkin' proud to say that Ms. Madison MADE IT!!! She was over the moon excited... as soon as we got home we sent off for the UCA patch she gets for her cheer jacket! When they announced it Morgan from out in the waiting room starts hollering and everyone laughed a good one... here he is scooping her up when camp was over and he got to come in.... waaaaay cute moment!

Madi had wanted me to go out and take some shots of her and of course I wasn't going to turn that down... here are a few of her dancing that are my faves... you'll be seeing LOTS of these on coming pages... i got several of just her posing and such but these of her dancing and just letting loose had to be some of my favorites! :)

And now for this handsome little man... Mitchell has had a rather low key summer after baseball season ended and spent most of it traveling to watch his brothers play in their tournaments. (It's alright, last summer it was all about him and his team!)... Hard to believe he will be playing Middle School football this summer and is big enough to spend the summer working out with his older brother getting ready for the upcoming football season!

Here he is posing for a picture for the Football Program... trying to be serious like Morgan.. but in the end just can't help it and ends up grinning like a loon... love this kid!

Kenna has had a pretty low key summer as well.... she did SO good for her first year of softball this summer and I can't wait to see the improvements she makes for next year! This will be an exciting year for her because she is finally old enough to play sports in the city league. So this year will be filled with basketball, volleyball, and softball! I have a feeling she is going to be quite the little athlete!

and last but not least Mr. Matthew.... he has spent his whole summer playing baseball, taking 2nd in the district tourney and then on to the State Tournament in DeLeon! Again they didn't do as well as we wanted them to this year but I have a feeling next year they will dominate! ;) We were one of the youngest teams and I think with maturity and such they will really give other teams a good run for their money next year!

and then this shot just cause I think it's too cute! ;)

alright now for some promised projects.... I have been a busy gal but I keep forgetting to post stuff here! oops! lol

UUUUgh.... so my internet has been out for about a week now... and on and off before that. I finally had someone come out and fix it today... so yeah! here I am finally back on!!

Fun tips: I used my paper piercer to trace around the clouds on the patterned paper and then hand stitched around the edges to add some extra punch for the clouds.

For "fun" in the title I simply handwrote the words lightly in pencil and then used my microtip scissors to carefully cut around the edge and then when finished erased the pencil marks... instant fun title! And even better cause it's my handwriting! :)
I love the look of combining the two different colored flourishes to create the "splash" on my layout

Sorry it's been awhile... the internet was down there for a bit and then we have been wrapped up in baseball playoffs, practices, football camp etc...

Check this out! The Lions are headed to the STATE tourney!!! The game last night sealed the deal for us and we are headed to state now! We placed 2nd tonight in the District tourney to our other Eastland team... so we are both heading to the tourney! Some serious talent in these little Mavericks... should be a great time in a few weeks!

Should be interesting at the end of the month... Morgan's team is also headed to the State tourney so I will be running back and forth between here and DeLeon supporting my boys!

Nurse Mom...

Yep... that's me this week!
I have been trying to get Madison to feeling better after her surgery last Wednesday to get her tonsils out!

Trying to keep a 13 year old active girl down is a chore all in itself!

"Mom can I go with you to....?"
"Mom, I'm BOOOOOORED!"

"Mom, Can I go to cheer practice?" (um, no)

you get the idea. :)

When we got home last Wednesday she literally slept the entire day and into the next. Since then she has been up during the day but will tire out easily come evening. We have got out a little the past couple nights trying to slow but sure ease into it. Next week we start back full on with baseball practices etc. She is healing quick though and I think she will be happy to finally have those tonsils out. At one point they were just about touching back in her throat when she had strep for the last time, they were that big!

Now onto to some crafty goodies!
Here are my Jillibean Soup projects for the month:

First up is a fun one of Mitchell getting tossed around in the pool last summer... we had so much fun last summer at Jens playing in the pool! I am SO looking forward to another summer of fun! :)

ZVA Creative DT Blog Hop!

Are you ready to be inspired?

As you may know, I am a proud design team member for Zva Creative. We are joining together today to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog
